BILL SMITH Bill has notionally retired after 32 years in building products manufacture, mainly as General Manager of subsidiaries of Fletcher Building and Carter Holt Harvey. He is currently Chair of the Building Industry Federation of NZ and the Advisory Panel to the Chief Executive of the Department of Building and Housing. He is a member of the Licensed Building Practitioners Board and of the Asthma Foundation Board. He serves as Executive Director of the Construction Strategy Group. |

NIGEL BICKLE Nigel Bickle is Deputy Chief Executive Immigration NZ at the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE). He was appointed to his role after being Acting Chief Executive for the former Department of Labour (DoL). Nigel joined DoL as Deputy Chief Executive – Immigration in February 2010. He has an extensive background in change management, service delivery and policy. Nigel came to Immigration New Zealand from the former Department of Building and Housing where he was Deputy Chief Executive Sector Capability. He started his career at the Department of Social Welfare. The majority of his experience is in front-line service delivery within complex organisations undertaking change. |

PIETER BURGHOUT Pieter is Chief Executive of BRANZ, a role he has held since 2009. Previously, he was Chief Executive of the Registered Master Builder’s Federation, and of the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation before that. A qualified lawyer and builder, Peter has held numerous policy roles within government and has specialised in bringing parties into alignment on common issues. Wide and successful stakeholder engagement has been a hallmark of these issues-centric efforts. |

ANDREW CRISP Andrew is Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) of Infrastructure and Resource Markets at the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE). He oversees the development of policy relating to the Building Act, the Licensed Building Practitioners Scheme and housing affordability. Before joining MBIE, Andrew was Deputy Secretary Programmes at the Ministry for the Environment where his responsibilities included implementation of the Resource Management Act, Waste Minimisation Act, national environmental consenting and national environmental standards. He previously held senior roles at the Treasury and former Department of Labour. Andrew is a qualified chartered accountant. |

BRENT METTRICK Brent is the founding director and owner of the Stonewood Homes group of companies. He has been in the housing industry in Canterbury for over 35 years, the majority of these in volume building. Brent is a National Past President of the Registered Master Builders Federation, Past President of Canterbury Registered Master Builders Association and former Chairman of Master Build Services Ltd (the Master Builders guarantee Company). He takes a great interest in all matters relating to the construction of residential housing. |

GORDON MOLLER Gordon is an architect with extensive experience in the design of public buildings, educational, commercial, hospitality and residential projects. These include Sky Tower and Sky City, Wellington Civic Centre, residential projects in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, Macau Tower in China and the Houses of Parliament in Oman. He has a keen interest in exploring innovative solutions which give clarity to the needs of the client and community, and which respect the environment in a sustainable way. Gordon has been awarded the NZIA Gold Medal and was made an honorary Doctor of Literature by Victoria University. He is an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit. |

PETER NEVEN Peter has broad experience across the New Zealand construction industry. For the last decade of his 40 year career he was General Manager of Fletcher Construction’s commercial building division, delivering an unrivalled number of iconic buildings. He continues to be engaged by Fletcher Building in ad hoc executive roles. His expertise is sought on building industry matters in general, and on those specifically relating to the Canterbury rebuild. Peter has a rare ability to understand in detail the concerns of the broad range of sector stakeholders – from tradespeople, through designers and developers to owners, regulatory authorities and suppliers. |

DAVID KELLY David Kelly is Director Canterbury Rebuild & Recovery, for the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment. He is currently leading the whole of the MBIE work programme for the rebuild of Canterbury. David is a civil engineer, and before joining the Department of Building and Housing in 2007 had an extensive background in local government. This involved a number of senior roles including responsibility for infrastructure development, and was also Chief Executive Officer of South Waikato District Council. |
