Partnership Overview

Purpose and background

The Building and Construction Productivity Partnership is a partnership of industry and Government, established in 2010 to address low productivity in the industry.

The Productivity Partnership aims to build the value of New Zealand's building and construction sector and empower it to become productive, safe and profitable, so that it delivers good quality, affordable homes and provides a foundation for strong communities and a prosperous economy.

The Partnership's goal is to increase productivity by 20% by 2020.

The Partnership has a Secretariat and four workstreams:

Together, industry and government will remove barriers to improving productivity and use our combined strengths to address influential factors that can be realistically changed.

The Productivity Partnership is a change agent.

We are working to empower the industry to adopt new tools, technologies and systems to make the process of designing, constructing and operating buildings faster, more efficient and cost effective. Increasing productivity requires changing the culture of the industry from a process-driven one to a value-driven one.
