IAN ELLIOTT Implementing a skills strategy for the built environment to address major barriers to improved productivity, including developing improved management and supervision skills in SMEs, incorporating “future skill requirements” into education and training, and developing life-time career pathways for those entering the construction industry. The Skills Workstream brings together employers and firms with education and training providers to ensure the education system provides the training required to meet industry needs and to improve productivity.

RICHARD MAY Focusing on introducing best practice in procurement. Government procurement is a large part of construction spend, and is important in setting the tone for procurement across the sector. The Procurement Workstream is assessing where further improvement is required to smooth boom/bust cycles and to meet customer and provider needs. |

ANDREW REDING Looking at a wide suite of factors that can help lift sector performance and productivity, particularly at enterprise level, including innovation, prefabrication and smart technology. Increasing industry uptake of digital information tools is a priority. This workstream is focusing on areas where change can be applied across the sector to improve productivity more broadly. |

DR HELEN ANDERSON Striving to understand the drivers of productivity and to develop productivity measurements that are meaningful for the sector. This workstream is also validating international experience and identifying areas of research where improved understanding contributes to higher productivity. |
