The Productivity Partnership contributes to a number of key priorities for building well performing housing and construction markets in New Zealand.
These include:
- Construction productivity
- Smoothing the boom/bust cycle
- Housing affordability.
A key challenge for the industry is how to meet construction demand while maintaining quality and keeping down costs.
Our focus is on:
- Influencing demand
- Accelerating the uptake of smart technology
- Promoting industrialised construction
- Finding out what drives productivity to target action
- Mapping skills requirements and gaps.
Currently, the Productivity Partnership is working with industry on:
- National Procurement Pipeline projecting New Zealand’s future construction workload to assist planning and resource management
- Auckland Procurement Forum encouraging industry collaboration in our largest construction market
- New Zealand BIM Handbook and BIM Schedule supporting greater use of building information modelling
- Research on SME innovation and consumer preferences - understanding how builders think about doing things differently, and how their customers shape those decisions
- Skills landscape report identifying what opportunities exist for an agreed approach to construction skills development.
